Fun story, if you call something an exhibit or and exhibition in Paris it has weirdly sexual exhibitionist connotations, so now I call everything an exposition. Which is wrong, in English, but I keep doing it. I’ve also forgot the correct sense of the word ‘recuperate’.
A few expositions opened shortly (like, a day) before I left Paris, meaning that with packing, cleaning out my apartment, and post-exam fatigue, I didn’t have the time or the wherewithal to go see them. In case anyone is headed to Paris, here’s what you could go see that would make me jealous:
- Atelier des Lumières: Monet, Renoir… Chagall/Yves Klein
The Atelier des Lumières does beautiful light shows set to music. I’ve seen a few of them and every time they’re a magical experience. - Palais de la Porte Doree: Exposition Christian Louboutin
An opportunity to learn more about the creator of the infamous red sole. - Musee Yves Saint Laurent: Betty Catroux, Feminine Singular
I’ve been to this museum only once, and it’s quite small. It would be interesting to make a return trip to learn about Saint Laurent’s “female double”. - Musee des Arts Decoratifs: Harper’s Bazaar, Premier Magazine de Mode
I’ve loved many expositions at MAD, and this one sounds very promising. Featuring the works of great designers, photographers, and magazine staff (including legendary editor Carmel Snow).
