Current Trends v. Practicality

This is a topic that’s been on my ‘Blog Ideas’ list for a little while, and I realized that as the seasons change, tackling it is becoming a now or never sort of thing. Time waits for no one. Soon enough, the trends I don’t like now will fade out and be replaced with other styles I find similarly distasteful.

Not that there aren’t trends I don’t like- I simply find a bemused feeling of fond irritation to be my natural element. And that’s how I feel about the obsession with hygge, so let’s begin.

Oscars Red Carpet ’17: The Men

Okay, let’s just get the best-dressed, all-around star of the Red Carpet out of the way first.

Objectively the best, agreed? He’s actually showing up a few (many) of the grown men. His grooming is definitely far beyond Casey Affleck’s.  The tux is on point, the shoes are super cool, and his personality is glowing out.  Sunny Pawer is my favorite.

I’m starting with the Men’s Red Carpet because its the most boring.  The Oscars seem to inspire people to play it safe because it’s such an important night in the world of Hollywood so people are so worried to make missteps.
Witness Justin Timberlake, Andrew Garfield, John Legend, Lucas Hedges, Viggo Mortensen, and the boys to men of Moonlight.  All of them look pretty flawless but they could all switch suits in the bathroom and I would be none the wiser.  Hell, maybe they did. 😛

Ear Candy

Writing to you from the depths of illness again.  Mostly (I hope thanks in part to my utter and complete laziness yesterday, because I otherwise wouldn’t be able to live with that level of inertia) better today, except for a completely raw throat, fatigue, and residual soreness.  I didn’t go to my 9 am this morning, but will go to my 2:30. Present at the very least (but just barely) in body.

I slept for two hours today.  I never nap. I have never before in my life napped, except in the car.  But I’ve just been so tired that there’s no helping it, so I have to assume this is what my body wants.  My cat Minerva is doing her best to assist, mainly by fwumping her grande dame voluptuousness down on me so I lose all willpower to rise.  And I’m having fever dreams (that would make a surreal list).

I’ve so many interesting and exciting links (the wide world of the internet, what can you do?)- I haven’t done a links post in a while.  I hope everyone’s week is off to a good start. Mine would be better if it weren’t so chilly- I’m sitting on my radiator in my dorm room as I type this.  Actually, I’m going to the library.

Well, that’s a bit better.
