Friday Links 7/7

As always when it’s the first links installment of the month, the above photo is my new monthly desktop background (tiled, of course!)
It’s Friday and the weekend and I seem to be living my best life- at least that’s how it feels when things go your way for a few days. I’ve been doing a lot of cooking, found the perfect denim dress (finally!) and have some nice plans for the days ahead (Hopefully involving watching some horse racing! And possibly a film).  And my birthday is coming up! I’ll be 22, which is a nice even palindrome.

There are a lot of potential posts in the offing, which means that I need to gather my thoughts into a more orderly order and then proceed. You may have noticed that my Baby Driver thoughts yesterday were a bit scattered- but I was feeling guilty for not mentioning it, as it’s a really great independent film, and we need more of them.

Let’s get down to business!

Friday Links 6/23: The Drought is Over

pete3

I had an emotionally trying day, so let’s turn to the profound depths of the endless internet to drown my troubles.

Thankfully, after two weeks of fairly few links, I stumbled this week across a lot of interesting things (hope you’ll agree!) Continue reading “Friday Links 6/23: The Drought is Over”

Friday Fun Links 5/26

Rest in peace, Roger Moore, who passed away this week. I don’t generally talk about the personages the world loses, but this was such a lovely story I wanted to share it. He sounds like a wonderful man. Continue reading “Friday Fun Links 5/26”

A Shower of April Links

81vih+x90hL

This is my new desktop for the month of April! Isn’t it lovely? (And not at all in line with the cold wind we have in New Haven or the sloppy snow I’m hearing about from Boston, but hopefully it will be more appropriate by the end of this month).
The photograph is from this delightful-looking book, Encyclopedia of Rainbows.

I always feel like March is the month that pasts the fastest, although logically you’d think it would be February.  Maybe March feels like such a flash because you’re bolted into it from February and before you know it it’s already rolling.  It might just be a matter of personal history for me; March was the month that it first occurred to me how quickly time passes.  I have a distinct memory of some time in Elementary school- I think second grade- sitting on the big communal rug, watching the teacher flip the calendar and contemplating the lightning-quick passage of the month of March.
Anyway, I’m thinking of doing two list posts a month because I seem to accumulate way too many interesting links in a span of thirty days to compose a normal length post. Any thoughts? Do you enjoy these random excursions into the internet, or should I cut down my number of links?
But that’s a question for a different month (May? Is it really so close as all that?), for now, buckle your seat belts. Continue reading “A Shower of April Links”

Numbered Days; Pretty Calendars

201700014511

I was bragging a few posts ago about how absolutely beautiful and lovely my paint chip wall calendar is, so I’ll lead off with that one.
Here it is! Very pretty, very bright, very beautiful. Even more perfect than the 2016 one.
In fact, I’m almost a bit sad that I didn’t switch over to it in August (because it goes from August 2016-December 2017) much as I love the version that is one my wall now (but the dreary December palate is really bumming me out). Continue reading “Numbered Days; Pretty Calendars”
